It started out pretty well, at least. :) Let's go back in time...*flashback dream sequence*
Got up super early Saturday morning, after only an hour and a half of sleep. Eesh. `^_^ But I was still a little hopped up from the NIN concert, and I was nervous about getting up in time.
Anywho, Dan's mom picked us (Dan, Wade, and myself) up and we headed to the airport. No hassles there, we got checked in just fine and met Chris, Anne, Nate, and Tina. Our seats on the plane weren't all together, but ah well.
Spend most of the flight playing Nintendo DS. Everyone except Tina had one. `^_^ So the flight wasn't bad. We then caught a flight from Honolulu to Kona, where...the fun started. `^_^
We land, and man, was it humid. *_* A lot more than I'm used to. We all get our bags...except Nate. Apparently some guy had grabbed his. D'oh. -_- We then went and got our mini-van...and more fun ensued. We had all paid around $350 total for the van. It was through a travel package, so I thought, "hey, I just sign a form or something and we're off!" Not so. They want $45 a person to allow each individual to drive the van. WTF?! Bullshit, but it would be inconvenient to have just me driving, so Nate and Dan opted for this. I was thoroughly annoyed by this point, but I shrugged it off the best I could. When we got to the house...WOW. Words and pictures really don't do the place justice. We spent quite a while just basking in the awesomeness of it! It was swank!
...except there was no internet. A multi-million dollar house, and no internet? Geez.
Well, we unpacked and did some shopping at Costco. They do sell liquor there and MAN is it cheap. Stupid Washington taxes on liquor. A 1.75 liter of Captain Morgan's here goes for about $32-34. There? $21. Yes, Stu, I was dancing and thinking I was at paradise, even if there wasn't internet. :) I picked up a jug of Skyy, along with food, and we were on our way. Luckily on our way back the airport found Nate's luggage. Woot!
We didn't do much that night, though we all went out and enjoyed the pool. It was a lot of fun!
Sunday I woke up late. I was a little tired, but I just thought it was jet lag or something stupid like that. I'm pretty sure that was the day that we picked up snorkeling equipment. We went down to the beach and...wow, it was really cool. I'm not cool with heights, and I felt a little nervous because it seems like you're so high up, even if it's in water. Saw lots of cool fish, some really colorful ones too! The water was pretty warm, though there were currents of cold water. That was really weird, to be really warm one moment then cold the next. `^_^
We had dinner at the Hard Rock Café, which was cool since I've never been. Little pricey, but the food was good and I got a souvenir glass. :) Later that evening I went over to the other house where my buddy and co-worker Ryan was staying. We hung out and talked and drank...though I didn't feel like drinking. I had probably about the equivalent of about six or seven shots of vodka, but I wasn't into it. Sadly, I had to call it a night and go to bed.
Monday...what did I do Monday? I want to say that Nate, Tina, Chris, Anne, and myself went downtown to do some shopping. I didn't get much for myself, just a Hawaiian shirt. :) Sent my little sister a postcard, and generally walked around the shopping area. I got back to the house that night and I was not feeling good. Started feeling like shit actually. My throat was super sore and I was really congested. I went to bed, and woke up Tuesday morning feeling even worse. Damnit!
Luckily after asking, Nate brought back some Day and Nyquil, so I was able to rest comfortably at least. So...Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were mostly spent sleeping, watching The Simpsons (picked up season six at Costco), and playing Sword of Mana. I missed out on the volcano trip, though I'm sure that Dan (
dudeapathy) will go into a lot of detail about that. After hearing the stories, I didn't feel too bad about missing out. `^_^
Friday I was finally feeling a bit better. What did I do that day? I think I took it pretty easy...oh yeah! We went and saw Serenity since Wade was really jonesen' to see it. Kick-ass movie. I had only seen a few episodes of Firefly, but it was really good. Go see it. :) Anyway, spent most of the day just loungin'. Ate some pizza and I think I watched some Bleach with Chris and Anne.
Saturday I still wasn't 100%, which I was pissed about. I had wanted to go jet skiing and go to a luau, but it didn't look like it was going to happen, between dwindling funds and still not feeling all that great. We went to a nearby Hilton hotel and saw some dolphins. We didn't get to go in with them, as I guess it was really expensive and, according to Tina, they had a few month waiting list. `^_^ After that we went to a nearby black sand beach and had a great adventure trying to get some coconuts from a tree. :) I have some great pictures of that, hopefully I'll be able to post them all sometime soon!
Found a gigantic spider near the front door. I got some pictures (again, will post later), and it was scary looking. We all decided not to tell Dan, since we knew he'd freak, but I guess he was pissed that we didn't tell him. `^_^
Nate and Tina were way too nice and took my out to dinner at the Kona Brewing Co. They had beer I actually liked, and the pizza...oh man, this stuff was GOOD. Thanks again Nate and Tina! Again, you guys were way too nice! :)
Went swimming in the pool that night and had a few drinks, but that was about it. Packed up, and took off Sunday morning. Pretty uneventful flight, except on the Honolulu to Seattle flight I was by myself, though I was next to two really hot girls. Nice time for me to become painfully shy. `^_^
Had an...adventure getting back home, but we got in about midnight.
So, did I have fun? For the most part, yes. People are probably going to yell at swear at me for complaining about a trip to Hawaii, but...it wasn't quite what I was expecting. The good? Awesome house, nice pool, sunny weather, awesome views, and having fun with my friends. The bad? No internet (yes, I'm addicted, okay? :P), crap with the vehicle rental place, got a little too windy/cloudy at times (I didn't get a tan *tear*), no Simpsons on TV (had to go buy a freakin' DVD set...yes, I'm also addicted to The Simpsons)), and my cold. The cold is what really did it. I don't mind sitting in my room, watching TV and playing games, but if I was gonna do that, I could've just stayed here in Washington! Plus, I only got to drink like half of the jug of vodka. I had to leave the rest. *sniffle*
I will admit that I was eager to get home. Hawaii? Nice place, but after getting back, I love Seattle. The weather, probably. :) A lot of the Big Island in Hawaii was very barren. I didn't like that that much. It looked the surface of Mars. `^_^
No, I'm glad I went, and yes, I had fun, but I'm really glad to be back. *hugs Washington and internet access*
Oh, here are a few pics that I resized. I'll try and find a way to get all my pics up sometime.
