Adventures in Networking
Feb. 23rd, 2005 07:21 pmOkay, I'm getting this right out into the open; FUCK networking. I HATE it. For most other aspects of my computer, I'm okay. I can put my computer together okay, troubleshoot okay, tinker and etc. But when it comes to networking, I'm a freakin' dope.
So the tech guy came out, and in the middle of telling me that my internet was already up and running, my computer wouldn't turn on. So I had to stretch a power bar over. At this point, I was told my IP address was changed, but that the guy couldn't give it to me (I had to call Speakeasy). So, I go to work to use the internet and get the IP address, get home, and basically cry with relief when I see I finally have internet. :)
But, of course, things can't be that easy. -_-
Wade comes in later because he wants to use Dan's computer for school, and he needs the internet. I needed to set up the hub or whatever anyway, so I attempt to. However, now my computer starts going haywire. As in, a black and white screen of weird jumbly crap. This happens three times before finally my monitor stops working. It was doing the same thing as the last time my video card crapped out...started up with a long beep and two shorts beeps. I'm becoming seriously angry at this point, and decide to just go back to playing Mega Man X: Command Mission for a while while I cool down (computers are one of the few things that get me seriously angry in a short amount of time).
So I hook everything back up to "just my computer" internet, and, it seems okay now. But, I do need to get Dan on the 'net...and I don't know what to do. :( I'm gonna try again...wish me and my computer luck. *crosses fingers*
Oh yes! And happy birthdy to Anne! :) Saving the party for the housewarming? :)
