Good Movie, Crappy Audience

I liked Silent Hill, overall.

What did they get right? The atmosphere. PERFECT. The town's creepy as hell, the monsters are scary and grotesque (Pyramid Head kicked ass, though we should've seen a bit more of him). They used music from the game. There's definitely a feeling that the director knew what Silent Hill was about.

The bad? Some of the dialog and some of the story didn't make total sense. While I agree that some of the dialog was a bit corny, it wasn't quite as bad as what the audience who saw it thought (at least I thought). Would've been nice if they had protagonists from the actual games; as it is, every scriptwriter seems to have to add his or her own "touch" (a la fanfiction).

The worst? The fucking audience. I swear that at least two or three of those people were higher than kites. There was one chick across the theater who just couldn't stop laughing at stuff that wasn't funny at all. Kinda the same with some guy sitting behind and to the left of me. The movie was supposed to have a really creepy atmosphere (for the most part, there was a touch of humor here and there), but with everyone laughing and giggling...yeah, it took away from the movie. I'd love to see it again when there won't be so many asshats in attendance.

Nate wrote up a review on the movie. He did an excellent job of summing up the strengths and weaknesses of the movie. And I'm glad to see that Tycho over at Penny Arcade shares my views on the audience.

So yeah, today's going okay. I'm hoping to actually get a full night's sleep tonight, though we'll see if that happens. Got a pretty full weekend. I never really like it when I'm stretched so thin, but we'll see how it goes.

Most of the time they're not too bad, at least from what I've seen. But yeah, sometimes you just HAVE to have someone that wants to be the class clown when everyone else is watching the movie. Grr!

Well, it could've been better, honestly, but I'm not sure if it was quite as bad as people are saying. I think it was more some of the dialogue that was kinda...yeah. `^_^

Some parts get pretty bloody. *_* Like when Pyramid Head...well, I won't ruin it if you don't want any spoilers (if you haven't seen it yet).
