I hope I finally learn my lesson this time. I'll eat great for a while then fall off the wagon. When I go back to eating good food (i.e. raw vegetables), it...ugh, for the first day or two it's awful. I'm eating a veggie mix (tomato, celery, carrots, broccoli) and I very nearly felt like throwing up.

...back on the wagon...

The store-prepared mixes (my local one is usually broccoli, carrots, celery, and radishes) are pretty "blah" to me often as well, plus parts like broccoli can go "off" with odors pretty quickly. Are there a group of veggies (and fruit, or are you avoiding that for the sugar aspect?) that you like enough to get a zip-bag together the night before for the first few "back on the wagon" days?

Hm, good point. I try and get from Whole Foods (which when I look on their "packed" date is usually a few days before hand), though Café Mario has them and they are pretty fresh.

Hmmm...well, I usually try and throw in broccoli just cause I know how good it is for ya. It's kinda "whatever" for everything else. And nope, not opposed to fruit, though I'd like a veggie percentage of the veggie to fruit to be higher. I might have have to pick up some stuff myself and try that, though.

My stomach gets upset when I eat more than a slice or two of tomato. Is it possible those are bugging you? They can be fairly acidic.

Heh, well I hope my cooking wasn't that bad for ya :) Worst thing in that was maybe the small amount of eggs and a bit of oil.

If you want to pick up some things sometime, I'm sure we can make your diet a little more appetizing. Green beans with Tofu, Mushrooms(yes you can pick these out) in a black bean sauce. Or just simple veggie stir-frys. Using good oil, and a light sauce. Tasty, microwavable, and better for ya then pizza and beer.

But, its all up to you :)

They can be. Obviously stuff like carrots and cucumbers are fine, but the taste of raw broccoli...*shudder*

I'm usually okay with tomato. I never noticed any problems eating them, at least...though maybe I just haven't noticed?

Nah, it was quite tasty. :)

Probably what I need to do is make big meals and then put it into portions for the next few days.

I need to move beyond the pizza...`^_^

I recommend getting some nice vegetarian soup. Vegetables tend to taste a bit better in soup form, at least to me.

Vegetarian soup is good, though I should watch the sodium (sadly, soup has a lot of sodium, and low-sodium soups are kind of expensive).

Nope, not only veggies. Trying to cut the bad carbs (white bread, white rice, etc.) and focus more on proteins and healthy fats and carbs (low-fat dairy, low-fat meat, fruits, veggies).

I try and eat raw vegetables since you get more out of them than cooked veggies (since the fiber stays intact). I'm thinking that stuff like stir-frys are gonna be the way to go, but I still wanna try and get back to eating raw vegetables here and there.

part of why you feel crappy might be your internal organs getting unclogged and expelling toxins. Its good for you to get rid of those toxins, but it can make you feel like shit.

Hm, any good detox stuff you recommend?

triple leaf tea makes a pretty good detox tea. It doesnt even taste bad! You can find it in grocery stores.

Don't gag through eating veggies you don't like, man. You'll hate eating healthy if you do. The trick is to find veggies you actually enjoy eating and pair them with good protein, such as natural peanut butter and low-fat cheese.

One thing that you can do is butter vegetables a bit. I know that butter is not healthy, but you can find some decent substitutes, like Butter Buds. They work best on hot moist vegetables, like boiled ones.

Mostly it's "I don't feel like cooking". I'd rather use something like low-fat cheese since it's a lot better for ya than butter (and I'd rather keep what I'm eating as natural as possible, which is why I'd like to try and stay away from the butter substitues).

Yeah, I was dipping my veggies in almond butter...I haven't gotten into the routine of making my lunch everyday. I'm sure once I do, I'll be fine. :)

True, though boiling vegetables is hardly more difficult than making ramen, you know? Surely they have a hot water tap in the Nintendo cafeteria, or something like that. You can bring a bowl, put the vegetables in, pour on the hot water, and let it sit for a few minutes.

Personally, some vegetables I prefer not to cook or boil, like carrots. Other ones I cannot stand to eat raw, like broccoli. If you are like me, you can just boil the ones that you want to boil and eat the rest raw.

Oooh, that reminds me, you could bring some chicken-broth or something like that and make some easy and palatable soup...
