Enough Really IS Enough

Hi everyone! This won't be the happiest post, but...well, things aren't all peaches and cream. `^_^

I'm not gonna go into the whole situation, but I am no longer the Assistant Director of Publicity, but now the Assistant Director of Operations. The reasons for this are long and complex and I don't feel LJ is the best place to go into that. If you must know, you can talk to me and I'll let you know.

However, because of certain circumstances, I'm levying to have Andrea (Squeek!) removed from her position as the Director of Publicity.

I know several people have had problems with her. I strongly encourage you to write to the Sakura-Con Board of Directors (you can find their contact info at this link) and the ANCEA Board of Directors (you can find their contact info at this link). Please go into as much detail as possible when e-mailing them.

I don't think Andrea is a horrible person. But she is not fit for this position. In my opinion she's immature, irresponsible, and not ready for this position.

I'm sad it's come to this, but something has to be done, and if no one is willing to come out in public and push for this, well...then I feel it's my reponsibility to the convention to do this. I owe a LOT to this convention and I will not let it be taken down the drain by someone who acts the way she does.

hmmm... well, i have heard people have had problems(they will remain nameless), and i must admit i have had problems with her getting back to me about being on staff...(after the sept. meeting, where she inquired if i'd be on staff) actually, there really never was no getting back to me. i pmed her about 2 weeks after, and she finally asked if i'd like to be on staff, i said yes... and it sorta stopped at that? XD no info whatsoever afterwards... so i'm sorta unsure of my status... i dunno, maybe there isn't anything after that? i just thought there'd be more info but i could be wrong ^^; but anyways, sorry to hear that trouble is happening. if you need to vent, feel free at anytime ^_^. hope everything works out.

I want this con to stick around, y'know? I wouldn't know ANY of you if it weren't for Sakura-Con. I'm VERY worried for the con after seeing her actions and inactions .

I will keep people informed about the progress on this. Hopefully things will work out for her removal.

Did I ever say I wanted the Director of Publicity position at this point in time? I'd rather stay in an Assistant position so I can gain more experience and truly be ready for a Director position.

First of all, don't talk about things you know nothing about. You said yourself you DON'T know her.

Second, who have I cast out? The only person I can think you might be referring to is yourself. Yes, I did provide LJ entries and such that helped the case against you, but you can't blame other people for your problems. You dug your own grave.

Third, if I was the only one having problems with Andrea, I would have gone about this very differently. However, since SEVERAL people have expressed frustration with her, and things are not getting done, this is what I feel I must do.

Please tell me what "power" I have? I'm kind of curious, cause basically I'm assisting a Director. I don't have the power to willy-nilly fire people or anything like that.

Why I waste my time even responding to you...it's not like you'll understand any of this since you're just off in your own little world. I would've thought you might've gotten better over the past year...maybe I was wrong.

Not picking sides and all, but both parties should have a face to face in the first place, if there are problems, and it doesn't matter who should start, someone should have initiated it.

The problem is, there has been face to face with Andrea and at least one other person and nothing was resolved.

Communication is the problem. Steps have been taken to try and resolve the problems that people have had with her, and it hasn't worked.

So you feel that this Andrea should be removed from her position, and ask those who might read this to write to the proper authorities, but can only back your claims with "She's not horrible, but she's not fit for this position" and site that she's "immature, irresponsible, and not ready" without even one single example?

I'll be you desire to nominate yourself in Andrea's leave, also. But that's just MY speculation.

I'm sure your friends might back you on this one, but no person familiar with these conventions but outside of your immediate circle is going to support you simply because you cite no reason to.

In my honest opinion you were complaining without focusing on what the solution should be. You'd make X comment about Y person, and leave it at that. Was that constructive?

Now, I don't fully know the situation with what happened to you, so I can't really say. Did you offer solutions to what was bothering you?

However, with Andrea, this is a problem. A problem that needs a solution. I'm offering one. The problem with her is not something that should be pussyfooted around anymore.

What I'm doing is here not complaining about Andrea (though it easily looks that way), but gathering evidence for the case against her. In your LJ entries, were you ever doing anything like that?

Honestly? I think you're an okay guy. Because of the events around you leaving, I'm not too sure we'd ever hang out...*shrugs*

You also have to consider that you were a Director. That carries a lot of weight and responsiblity. I'm an Assistant. I lighten the load of of the Director, but have no where near the responsiblity that he or she does.

I really have more to say about the situation, as there are things I haven't said, but I'm trying to keep this as basic as possible. E-mail wouldn't work as I don't have everyone's e-mail address, and it's quite hard to obtain them now that the Message Board does not display e-mail address; LJ was the next best thing.

tsubasanyo here, (both bakas, all sakuras) you know I thought you were being a lil rough on Squeek, but after reading the "renee naddo" excerpt over at Sqeek's thing, I had to say, while not even knowing any specifics that renee's case sounded like one that only a competent attentive exec would make. she cuss's a bit, but it's a persuasive and detailed analysis.
