Fuck You, Sprint
Jan. 1st, 2005 12:22 pmSince they decided to charge me $70 for an extra 177 minutes of talking...they're expensive enough as it is! .40 a minute is NOT acceptable.
So, could any recommend a good cell phone company? I'm looking for:
* A phone that takes pictures so the person's picture appears on the screen.
* Must be over 300 anytime minutes.
* Phone plan should preferably be under $40 a month.
* Able to download ringers and screensavers.
Any ideas? I'll be sending Sprint a nasty e-mail, then once I get some suggestions I'll probably change over. Thanks! :)

Date: 2005-01-02 12:36 am (UTC)With Cingular you can pay $39 per month plus tax for 450 any time minutes, national coverage(no roaming fees) and I think 5000 weekend/night minutes.
I have the V400 phone and I have photos that show up when someone calls. The phone is a little slow in loading my mp3 ringtones and the picture. By the time I open the phone to see and hear all that, it's already time to answer it before I miss the call.
But check out the Motorola RAZR phone, it's badass. Just like the V400 but bigger screen. Wider but flatter phone. And I read, I think on cnet.com, that it has a faster processor.
Both Cingular and T-Mobile are on GSM networks.

Date: 2005-01-02 02:54 pm (UTC)And as usual, as for anything you can get. If you get a new phone, ask about a car charger, carrying case, ear piece, etc. Usually a Cingular dealer will provide you these free of charge as a convenience. Before they assign you a phone number, ask them for a range of available numbers and choose one that you like and think will be easy for you and others to remember.
Ask them exactly how much your bill will be including tax. Ask them about the phone's warrantee, their insurance plan option, etc. Be sure to understand the length of your contract. Usually it's two years before you can cancel. One year if you get a phone at Best Buy. They carry phones and plans for Cingular, Sprint, Verizon, and I think T-Mobile. But they're less likely to provide you free phone accessories.
Pay a Cingular and a T-Mobile location a visit for information first before deciding. Let them know you're just there for information and get some brochules. Unless you know for sure what you want.
If you're getting a new phone, ask to see and play with a working display model of that phone. I've done that and either the display phone was working, or the salesperson let me see his/her phone. They often have the newest phones for themselves. Best Buy usually has working phones out for people to play with, just like the rest of the store.
And ask them by what method can you find out, at any given time, how many minutes you've used and have left before the next billing month.
