Well, I finally found the problem with the MACHINE_CHECK_ERROR (the blue screen of death) problem.

Bit Tornado.

That had been my bittorent client for a while, and I never linked the two together. The other night I saw Stef using Bit Comet. The interface was MUCH better, so I thought I'd give it a go. Uninstall Tornado, installed Comet.

This error would come up...usually every couple of hours. I'd be lucky to go a day without it happening. I left my computer on overnight last night...and no problems. I've looked back and, since uninstalling Bit Tornado, the error has not come up. Woo-hoo! Now I don't have to go buy a new power supply!

Sadly, I'm still having the "lines on the screen" problem. That's probaly just a driver issue, but good luck figuring out ATI's website for drivers. I need a new video card anyway.

I use Bit Tornado and I love it. I haven't ever got that error like you have.

Bit Comet is so much better, since it keeps all the torrents in one single window. It's a little more user-friendly.

Aw well, my machine doesn't like it. I can live with Bit Comet.

I like all my downloads in the system trey when I have them minamized. It is cool. I also like how the color changes when a download completes. Pretty cool. Sorry it was screwing with your system.

Bit Comet's really nice since it has little symbols to show if it's uploading, downloading, etc.

BitComet has been solid for me, and I like the additional options, so I can keep things running in the background from eating all my bandwidth.

1) Personally, I prefer to use Azuerus. I've never used BitComet, but the options available with Azuerus are awesome!

2) Assuming you have an ATI 9000 Radeon Pro, here's the driver you'll need:

Catalyst 5.5 ATI 9000 Radeon Pro drivers for Windows XP (http://www2.ati.com/drivers/5-5_xp-2k_dd_cp_wdm.exe)

Of course, make sure to completely uninstall your existing drivers and delete the root ATI directory before installing the new drivers.
