What pretty much every gamer has been waiting for, Silent Hill is opening on Friday. :) Anyone up for going? I'm hoping it'll play at the Cinerama, but I haven't been able to find any information yet (the Cinerama website doesn't seem very helpful).

So, I'm thinking sometime Friday evening, after 7pm (I get off work then). :)

I have about 5 passes to go see the sneak preview on Thursday if you and any others are interested. It starts late, I think around 9, and it's a good idea to get there about an hour early. Lemme know if you want to go.

Ooooo! I'm so down for that, thank you!!! I don't work Thursday, so I'm all good!

Where is this taking place? Who's going with ya so far?

Alright, one pass earmarked for you my friend. Your pass is good for two, so bring a friend!

BTW, if you have enough, I would still be up for it. Don't have a guest though.

So...sounds like you'll get the other pass?

Well, if I'm hearing this right, Nate should have enough to bring 10 people to the showing, so unless your bringing a guest, I can be your date :)

Well, I have a Sputnik meeting Thursday and Genki Friday, so I am not sure if I could make it to either of those. I think that a Saturday evening gathering to go see it would work much better for me.

Damnit! That's what's going on Thursday night...I think I'll have to skip out on Sputnik this time, but DEFINITELY next time!

It still says "TBD" so they have not figured out what to do at Sputnik this month. For all I know they might be getting out around eight o'clock, which should leave plenty of time to get to the showing. Though that is a big "if."

Hmm...*ponder* I may tag along with you and sneak out early. What time does the meeting usually start? Is it easy to sneak out (if I need to)?

We gather at six-thirty, the meeting starts at seven, and then it goes until it is done. This takes between one and two hours. And yeah, it is easy to sneak out. This is not like some small meeting around a boardroom, it is a large group of people seated in an amphitheater lecture hall. Trust me, getting out is easy. And we never really do anything serious like voting or anything, since all the serious stuff is handled purely online, and our meetings do not require IGDA membership.

We should wait and see what the lecture will be about. Though if you are going then, I would hope to go too (though it depends on how many tickets would be left.)

Well, maybe check with Nate, if he's got some spots left!

If not, well, I'll probably see you and John on Saturday. :)

I do, I have an extra pass (for two) that you and John can have if you like. It's downtown though, at Pacific Place Cinemas, but it starts at 9:00pm

Oh jeez, I had about a billion of those for the con. Speaking of which, I also have some Silent Hill T-Shirts and one big ass poster that I got for Northwest Retro after the convention, if anyone is interested...

Nate, the hell you do get this stuff? `^_^

The shirt probably wouldn't fit me...but...I may be interested in the poster. :)

Heh, I think I have a Silent Hill tshirt as well (call mine a perk of ushering for Piano Squall's show when one of the gaming folks came in with a box of 'em, heh!).

Still, some of the more seemingly-splatter-fest ones go beyond my tastes for shock value (timing/subject over gore/disgust). Hope you guys have fun, though! ^_^'

Silent Hill is a bit more subtle with it's gore. It's usually more about atmosphere than straight up action.

But thanks! :)

Definately. That is one of the reasons why I like Silent Hill. As one revewer put it, it was the game that moved from being "survival horror" to "survival terror."

Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams had such a great sense of timing and atmosphere that I was questioning my sanity by the end. It is kind of like Perfect Blue that way.

It's just part of a thing I have going with Northwest Retro.

You're welcome to the poster. It's BIG. like 4'x8' big ^_^

Oh, this is like an actual movie poster? Yeah, I'll get in on that! :)
